BRIDGING THE TWO CULTURES: Evolution and Practice of the Health Humanities
Abstract: Over the last 50 years, both physicians and humanists have worked to reunite two human ways of thinking. These efforts have led to the establishment of programs, centers, journals, and professional organizations. In this talk, Craig Klugman will trace this history of uniting the humanities and sciences in the education of health care including the evolution of medical and health humanities, founding of the Health Humanities Consortium, and recent empirical studies showing the knowledge, skills, and values that health humanities educators try to impart to their students as well as what graduates of these programs actually learn.
